Arcola is a hilly municipality between La Spezia and the Magra plain: the old village climbs around the pentagonal tower of its castle, while lower down the hamlets have grown towards the plain. The hamlet of Trebiano has another castle and a small, well-preserved medieval village.
It is a quiet base about ten minutes from Lerici and La Spezia. To stay there is a campsite, bed and breakfasts and rooms.
