Borghetto di Vara is a village on the floor of the Vara valley, at a hundred metres, where the roads climbing inland from the Cinque Terre and Levanto meet. It is a convenient stopover, with a couple of hotels and a trattoria serving food from land and sea.
Around it open up the woods and villages of the middle Vara valley. The patron saint is Saint Charles Borromeo, celebrated on 4 November.
