Calizzano

Calizzano is the mushroom and chestnut village of the upper Bormida valley, at 650 metres, surrounded by dense woods. Its chestnuts, dried in the tecci, small stone drying huts, are a Slow Food presidium, and in autumn the village lives off the harvest.

On the Colle del Melogno stand forts from the late 19th century, such as the Forte Centrale and the Forte Tortagna; in the woods you will find the so-called Bosco delle Streghe, the witches’ wood, and the Cravè lakes. To stay there are hotels, rooms and a campsite.
