Province of Savona

Stella

Stella is a municipality of scattered hamlets on the hills behind Varazze and Celle; the town hall is in San Giovanni, birthplace of Sandro Pertini, President of the Italian Republic from 1978 to 1985. Pertini is buried here with his wife Carla Voltolina, and his birthplace is a place of remembrance.

The land climbs towards the Apennines among woods and meadows, with two campsites and a few rooms. The patron saint is Saint John the Baptist, celebrated on 24 June.
