Cengio is a town in the upper Bormida valley, at 360 metres, on the border with Piedmont, which grew around industry in the 20th century. Today it is a quiet place from which roads and trails lead towards the hills of the Langhe.

There are a few pizzerias and trattorias. The patron saint is Saint Catherine of Siena, celebrated on 29 April.
