Sassello is the home of amaretti: the soft almond biscuits made here for generations and sold in pastry shops all over Liguria. It lies at almost 400 metres on the northern slope of the Apennines, among beech and chestnut woods, and part of its territory falls within the Beigua park.

The centre has the Perrando civic museum, with collections on the village’s history and art. Sassello is also the birthplace of Blessed Chiara Badano. There is a good choice of places to stay: hotels, rooms, an agriturismo, a campsite and a mountain hut.
