Castellaro

Castellaro looks down on the sea from the hills between Taggia and Riva Ligure, at 275 metres. In the village there is a small museum set up in the old prison.

Just outside stands the sanctuary of Nostra Signora di Lampedusa: tradition tells of a sailor from Castellaro, held prisoner on the island, who escaped carrying an image of the Virgin. From the square in front you can see the whole coast. The patron saint is Saint Peter, on 29 June.
