Taggia gave its name to the Taggiasca olive, the most famous of Liguria’s olives. The old town, one of the Borghi più belli d’Italia, has noble palazzi and the Dominican convent with paintings by Ludovico Brea, and the Argentina stream is crossed by a long medieval bridge with many arches.

Towards the sea lies Arma di Taggia, the beach side of town, with its sands, a 16th-century fortress and a railway museum. In February, for the feast of San Benedetto Revelli, the streets light up with the furgari, the village’s traditional fireworks.
