Busalla is the main town of the upper Scrivia valley, at 360 metres, on the road and railway that climb from Genoa towards Piedmont. The city is half an hour away, but the air here already feels like the hills.
Nearby is the artificial lake of Busalletta, a place for walks, and a museum tells the story of the valley. For children there is a farm with animals, La Boccarda; to stay there are two hotels and a few rooms.
