Casella

Casella is the terminus of the Genoa–Casella railway, the narrow-gauge train that has climbed from the city through woods and ridges since 1929, with views that alone are worth the trip. The village lies at 410 metres in the upper Scrivia valley, among meadows and hills.

It makes an easy day trip from Genoa, with a few trattorias and three hotels for anyone who wants to stay. The patron saint is Saint Roch, celebrated on 16 August.
