Propata is a small village at almost a thousand metres in the upper Trebbia valley, above Lake Brugneto, the reservoir that supplies Genoa with water. Just over a hundred people live here.

The parish church of San Lorenzo holds a wooden statue by Anton Maria Maragliano. The village has a hotel, a mountain hut and a couple of trattorias, handy for hikers on the ridges of Monte Antola.
