Moneglia is a fishing village between Sestri Levante and Deiva Marina and one of the Borghi più belli d’Italia, with a wide beach enclosed by two headlands and colourful houses right by the sea. On the heights at either end stand the Monleone castle and the ruins of the Villafranca fortress.

Coming from Sestri you drive along an unusual road built inside the old railway tunnels, with traffic lights letting cars through one way at a time. With hotels, campsites and holiday homes, it is a handy base for the eastern Riviera.
