Leivi is a municipality of scattered hamlets on the hills above Chiavari, six kilometres from the coast, with an open view over the whole Gulf of Tigullio. It is olive country, and oil has always been its main product; the town hall is at Solaro.

There are a couple of trattorias serving local food and a few rooms. The patron saint is Saint John the Baptist, celebrated on 24 June.
