Castiglione Chiavarese is a municipality of hills and woods in the upper Petronio valley, about twenty minutes from Sestri Levante and Moneglia. Its archaeological mining museum tells the story of the area’s ancient copper mines, among the oldest in western Europe, and the ruins of the medieval hospice of San Nicolao di Pietra Colice, where travellers once stopped, still stand nearby.
To stay there are two campsites, an agriturismo and several rooms.
